We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our growing Autonomous Vehicle (AV) business team! AVs are an important part of Ford's future and we're looking for the best and brightest. The role will require critical thinking, problem solving capabilities, and a "get it done" attitude to help make strategic decisions that will enable Ford to be a leader in autonomy, connectivity, mobility, analytics and customer experience.



As a member of our Autonomous Vehicle Future Connectivity team you will:

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the AV LLC team to deliver enabling connectivity functionality across multiple applications supporting autonomous vehicles;
  • Develop applications in C++/Linux environment to support vehicular networking, including device drivers and machine-to-machine applications;
  • Elicit requirements from users and stakeholders to develop supporting APIs (application programming interfaces) for V2X applications;
  • Develop cloud-based APIs for vehicle connectivity features
  • Maintain an expert level of product knowledge in V2X technology;
  • Participate in standards body activities (SAE, IEEE, 5GAA);
  • Understand regulatory and competitive environment;
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging V2X/connectivity technologies, including connected vehicle applications and services;
  • Work with hardware and software suppliers;
  • Support collaboration with connected vehicle stakeholders across the organization;
  • Lead innovation in connected autonomous vehicle applications;
  • Develop and deploy validation/verification methods;
  • Participate in proof of concept testing and deployment in the field, with occasional travel
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years' experience in a developer or sys admin role
  • 2+ years of experience developing on platforms such as Linux or QNX
Preferred Requirements:
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong software development / Programming skills
  • Demonstrated advocate for agile development best practices
  • 5+ years' experience in a developer or system admin role
  • A solid understanding of network communications technology - Internet, Intranet, VPN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6
  • Demonstrated experience in ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Technologies; experience with DSRC and or V2X technology a plus
  • Experience with mainstream cloud provider data solutions (AWS, Azure),
  • Understanding of APIs, Service Oriented Architectures, REST, IoT / Internet of Things
  • Understanding of Communications/Information Theory
  • Understanding of RF, antenna design, understanding of physical channel models a plus
  • Familiarity with Autonomous Vehicles and/or Robotics
  • Knowledge of cloud-based application integration, enterprise application integration and service-oriented architecture concepts and micro services architecture principles is a PLUS
  • Experience with network communication protocols, transport protocols and payload optimization techniques
  • Experience with mainstream cloud provider data solutions
  • Experience with Agile development best practices
