Position Description:
Ryerson Inc., one of the largest metals distributors in the US, is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Lansing team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will perform all plant and equipment maintenance to ensure maximum operational efficiency with limited unscheduled downtime.

The successful Candidate will:
* Comply to maintenance schedule and completion of preventative maintenance programs
* Perform routine maintenance on equipment including but not limited to: Plasma Arc Cutting Burning Equipment, Oxy fuel Burning Equipment, Powered Industrial Equipment, Overhead Cranes and the Building itself
* Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs
* Observe gauges, dials, or other indicators and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices; troubleshoot root cause of operating errors and decide the best course of action
* Repair the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment
* Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs
* Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment (compliant with EPA/OSHA regulations)
* Train and supervise operators of daily maintenance tasks for equipment
* Ensure 80% up-time of all equipment with limited unscheduled production interruptions or breakdowns
* Operate a forklift, crane and all equipment as necessary

Position Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED
* 2 - 5 years relevant JR level tech experience (Industrial electrical, hydraulics, mechanical repair, and pneumatics)
* Capable of standard repairs on all machinery including coil processing equipment, material handling equipment, overhead cranes (not afraid of heights) and building repairs
* Desire to operate in a proactive environment and be a self-starter with good organizational skills
* Strong safety focus at all times
* Solid computer proficiency and math aptitude
* Ability to react to unscheduled breakdowns with a sense of urgency
* Demonstrated troubleshooting and decision making skills
* Must be a team player
* Ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, mobility and lifting requirements
