Job Description

Henry Ford Health's Department of Neurology, located in southeastern Michigan, is seeking a board-eligible/certified General Neurologist to join our multi-disciplinary team.

We are seeking an innovative, efficient general neurologist willing to explore and develop new models of patient care. Our General Division focuses on a team based, patient centered approach. This position is primarily outpatient clinic; however, based on interest and training, opportunities exist for inpatient consult service rotation at multiple sites. We are currently integrating telemedicine into our outpatient clinics and opportunities to participate in this model of care exist as well.

With nearly 55 neurologists, including subspecialists in MS, stroke, epilepsy, neuromuscular, pediatrics, critical care, headache, movement disorders, and behavioral neurology, Henry Ford's Department of Neurology supports one of the largest and most established health care systems in the United States. Henry Ford's Neuroscience Institute is one of the largest and most active medically and surgically in the Midwest, offering the most advanced neurologic medical and surgical therapies. Our busy clinical practice completes over 30,000 visits annually across four outpatient medical centers in metro Detroit. Additionally, with two stroke units, two EMUs, Neuro ICU, step-down unit, and general neurology unit at our urban and community hospitals, our team treats over 5,000 inpatients annually.

As an academic program, we are active in clinical trials and neurology research. In the last five years, the Department of Neurology has received over $47 Million in clinical and basic science research funding for 245 grants and contracts, averaging 3-7 NIH grants a year. Currently, more than 180 clinical trials are ongoing for patients with neurological diseases. All centers within the Henry Ford Neuroscience Institute conduct research, with a major focus on translational research to fast-track scientific discovery from bench to bedside.

This practice position offers time for educational and other academic endeavors, including a teaching role with medical students and neurology residents. Opportunities to teach and practice are available at additional Henry Ford sites. Academic appointment opportunities are available at Michigan State University and Wayne State University.
