Torch Technologies is currently seeking Software Engineers to support the Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) at the Detroit Arsenal, located in Warren, MI. Selected candidates will play a pivoted role in supporting new and existing software projects within current and new vehicle platforms. Engineers will be responsible for Government furnished and Vectronics based software packages. Evaluation of Technical Data Packages for vehicle platform which include selected software code, identify gaps, and determine strategy for future in-house usage. Engineers will be heavily involved within work areas, such as software development, maintenance, testing and integration.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have direct experience with the following:

  • Background in software development and verification
  • Experience/knowledge with current software development languages and processes
  • General understanding of vehicle/truck development processes
  • Experience with vehicular multiplex buses (J1939/CAN/etc.) or standard computing interfaces (Ethernet, serial, USB)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross functional team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Qualified candidates will have an interest or experience in one of the following areas:
  • Firsthand code writing and development experience including use of build environments
  • Fielded or production software release
  • Software or Hardware in the Loop (SIL or HIL) use or development
  • Experience with reverse engineering (hardware and software)
  • Experience with rapid prototyping software and hardware systems (Matlab Simulink, dSpace, New Eagle, National Instruments, Siemens etc.)
  • Experience with C5ISR/EW systems (incl. GPS and assured PNT)
  • Experience with computer Virtualization (VMs) and hypervisor technologies
  • Experience with Embedded module/ECU development
  • Experience with Ethernet network routing and switching (various layers and management)
  • Experience with design for Cyber
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with software acquisition
  • Ability to self-manage, apply critical thinking skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • B.S. or greater in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline is required. Relevant graduate degrees will be given preference.
  • Experience developing applications with object-oriented languages
  • 8 + years in software development and electronics experience (vehicle electronics or military mission command computing or general computing)
  • 8 + years in experience with Vector CAN | focused on Vector CANoe
  • Previous experience in a Software-in the-Loop or Hardware-in-the-loop lab will be given preference.

  • Candidate must be a U.S Citizen
  • Duty Station - Detroit Arsenal
  • This position requires the candidate meet requirements to obtain a final secret security clearance to access classified information. Inability to obtain a secret clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
