Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

Drive and further develop our Junior Tennis Program. The ideal candidate will have to demonstrate the ability to work well within a team. Support the tennis pro staff as needed to ensure excellent customer service to all members and their guests.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Teach private or group lessons a minimum of 28 hours a week
  • Maintain good class records
  • Promote the MAC's tennis & pickleball program both internally and externally at community and school events, tournaments, trade shows and other events as identified
  • Lead and coordinate assistant tennis instructors with large junior school groups and classes
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Motivate students with new tennis techniques
  • Assist in running USTA tournaments and UTR events at the MAC
  • Keep tennis areas picked up and looking great
  • Provide individual and group lessons for players
  • Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve

Job Requirements
General Requirements * PTA or PTR certification or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Work Experience * Minimum of 2 years as a full-time teaching pro at a club or resort
Education * High school diploma or GED
Specialized Knowledge and Skills Required: * Strong communication skills in a one-on-one lesson or group lesson setting * Strong oral skills in off the court situations * Strong tennis playing skills and teaching skills * A person who leads by example * A self-confident person with an outgoing personality Preferred: * Prior experience in a club setting * Bachelor's degree in Professional Tennis Management
