Role Summary

Advanced service parts engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of design for serviceability on current vehicle programs across all platforms. This role requires independent judgment and cross-functional collaboration to ensure we develop a culture of serviceability within engineering. In this role, you will handle multiple engineering subsystems as needed and be involved in the engineering design reviews, analyzing, and investigating service impact of incoming change content, driving the appropriate service part strategy.


Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include tracking design changes in the initial stages of change management and defining the service part strategy across multiple engineering subsystems such as -
    • Body systems - Exterior, Interior, Closures and Structures
    • Chassis, Powertrain and Thermal
    • Electrical and Self-driving
  • Oversee all aspects of design for serviceability on current vehicle programs.
  • Actively participate in engineering design and change review boards to review upcoming changes and identify impact to service parts, tools, and processes.
  • Track change content requests for current programs and collaborate cross-functionally to develop appropriate service strategy.
  • Effectively collaborate with Design, Reliability, Service Manual team, and Service NPI to analyze and manage engineering changes for assigned commodity/ programs for impact to service.
  • Work with design release engineers to develop service part level plans and promote serviceability enhancements.
  • Investigate and determine interchangeability of new releases with respect to the existing parts.
  • Identify, define, and escalate emerging service concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Support service quality and operations team to verify repair instructions for field service actions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Automotive Technology or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in service, after sales and engineering environment
  • Seeking a versatile candidate who can seamlessly handle various engineering subsystems as needed, demonstrating adaptability and an open mindset.
  • Experience with managing service parts at an automotive OEM preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive design and development process and general best practices
  • Proficiency in extracting accurate data and adept interpretation for informed decision making.
  • Experience in Enovia, 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA, SAP or equivalent
  • Ability to self-direct and adapt quickly to program requirements.
  • Detail oriented and high-level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex.
