Huntsman is seeking an Automotive Account Manager supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This position will report to the Sales and Technical Service - Director.

Job Scope

Develop and execute objectives, strategies, and tactics to achieve forecasted revenue at specific automotive accounts. Develop a thorough understanding of the buying process at assigned accounts with the goal of maintaining and developing new business opportunities for Huntsman Polyurethanes.

Account Manager will report to the America's Sales and Technical Services Director. The position is responsible for managing specific automotive accounts to achieve forecasted revenue and deliver upon Huntsman Polyurethanes strategic initiatives.

As the Automotive Account Manager, you will:

  • Promote Huntsman to the customer. Align customer communications with Huntsman policies, philosophy, structure, capabilities, business plans, and strategy. Work to ensure customers view Huntsman as innovative, proactive, and capable.
  • Commensurate with the overall automotive business strategies, develop written annual account strategies to maintain existing business and obtain maximum new business at assigned accounts.
  • Conduct regular contact and communication with customer purchasing and other key program personnel relative to relationship development and closure of commercial issues.
  • Execute approved account strategy and provide leadership role for successful implementation at assigned accounts.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the buying process, an understanding of how the account works and how assigned accounts business process's function.
  • Establish and maintain customer contacts at all levels (Engineering, R&D, sales, production and marketing) to maximize Huntsman opportunities for new business.
  • Provide direction and leadership to both technical and customer service personnel to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction at assigned accounts.
  • Provide routine written communications to all support functions detailing competitive products/activities, progress vs account plans and/or specific customer information.
  • Provide short- and long-term information and perspective regarding the automotive industry and the assigned accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a high degree of product and application knowledge through formal and informal training plus independent study.
  • Assist Automotive Marketing Manager in developing overall industry strategies based on knowledge of customers and markets in which they operate and compete.
  • Develop and implement product pricing strategy at each account to maximize product and profitability.
  • Develop sales forecasts and budgets per account to accurately set forth the optimum volume of sales of forecasted products.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

  • Bachelor's degree, Business or Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years sales experience in Chemical or Automotive industry.
  • Customer-networking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and commercial presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks within and across departments to meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated successful performance with independent problem solving and presentations.
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database applications.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Travel required.

Additional success factors:

  • Acquire complete knowledge of customer's business in order to effectively communicate with senior leaders and key contacts using industry terminology and to identify potential uses for urethane products.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to plan, organize, execute, and follow-up necessary to maintain effective relationships with customers.
  • Considers customer direction; market demand; competitor direction; Huntsman competitive position, corporate and group strategy, while engaging the customer in the resolution of issues and/or the exploration of new opportunities.
  • Ability to develop an annual account plan which includes sales forecast per product and application for present and future targeted business. Responsible for resolving long and short-term strategic account issues which impact customer relationships and the sale of Huntsman products.
  • Stays abreast of potential new business opportunities. Remains knowledgeable of customer's business strategy, participates in the assessment of validity and relevance of opportunities, and appropriately communicates information and opportunities within Huntsman.
  • Knowledge of product economics and timely use of selective marketing techniques.
  • Determine technical service manpower allocations needed to support customer requirements and communicate to the Technical Service Group.
  • Identify specific product needs or modifications to the Technical Services, Marketing, and Sales Teams to expand the addressable market.
