What you'll do

As the Electrical Design Release Engineer for (a Shyft Group Brand) based at our R&D facility in , you will enjoy partnering cross-functionally and sharing your technical visions and ideas to develop innovative solutions to our clients' problems visually and verbally on a daily basis.

Your day-to-day as Electrical Design Release Engineer will involve testing and troubleshooting electrical systems for Blue Arc's and electrical vehicle products. The work you will accomplish in this role and as you grow your career with the company will be instrumental in shaping the future of how electric fleet vehicles are designed, built, and delivered. This position involves work on projects subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Prior experience or familiarity with ITAR regulations is preferred.

You will also:

  • Produce electrical engineering documentation
  • Manage your workload to ensure steady progress and timely completion
  • Design and Release of modules and subsystems
  • Assisting with both the electrical and mechanical aspects of the vehicle
  • Work on low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Develop engineering bills of materials that are complete, accurate, and on time
  • Process approved engineering change requests
  • Develop test requirements and coordinate component and system testing
  • Perform analysis of test results and participate in the testing
  • Occasionally represent The Shyft Group and Blue Arc at industry and technical forums
  • Identify and implement design improvement projects with a focus on reducing cost and improving product performance
  • Provide technical support cross-functionally regarding vehicle electrical systems

What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering
  • Five or more (5+) years of expertise testing Low Voltage Automotive (12V) and High Voltage Battery Systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally in support of growing the business
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status.

What makes you stand out

  • Heavy-duty truck and/or motor vehicle electrical experience
  • Familiar with FMVSS requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting and testing skills i.e. CAN networks and/or low voltage troubleshooting
  • Previous experience working with military projects preferred
