Job Description:

The HSE Manager has the primary responsibility for coaching, leading and influencing the operations management on HSE principles, practices and safety culture. This individual is responsible for leading the site management in injury and illness prevention, conservation practices and compliance with local, federal and company HSE standards.Oversee programs to assure compliance with corporate HSE programs as well as applicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA, state and federal HSE regulations. The HSE Manager will assist in analysis of new processes or new equipment to assure the safety of operation. Position will involve development of Safety procedures and implementation of those procedures. Performs safety observations with site leadership on a daily basis. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to: site safety inspections, monitoring workers compensation, post-accident testing, costs, policies/procedures, coordination with other business unit locations and creating and implementing improvements on existing training programs.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide HSE technical expertise on manufacturing systems, process design and operating procedures

  • Assess and identify the workplace for the presence of health, safety and environmental concerns and make recommendations to control or eliminate those concerns

  • Establish operational goalsto drive HSE improvements. Facilitates the development of a three year HSE improvement plan with site leaders.

  • Perform analysis of workplace HSE trends to measure and monitor performance metrics plus ensure accuracy of injury (OSHA) reporting and Terex HSE scorecards

  • Evaluate the operations, equipment and practices for HSE regulatory compliance and with company standards

  • Conduct and coordinate HSE training including the development of specific training for the workplace concerns based on assessment of site operations and incident trends

  • Guide team members to focus on long term sustainable HSE improvements

  • Communicate HSE information and provide expertise to operations, government representatives and the general public on issues concerning health, environmental performance or workplace safety

  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles as a means to drive safety compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Develop methods to identify operation hazards and evaluate safety problem areas. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices. Review injury and property damage reports. Provide advice and counsel concerning all city, state, and federal compliance regulations.

  • Provide guidance and direction to other departments to ensure compliance.

  • Develop programs to reduce injury potential


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental, Health, Safety or Industrial Engineering.

  • 3 plus years of progressive experience in plant safety

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Knowledge or training of occupational health, safety and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.

  • Demonstrates leadership competencies

  • Effective communication skills: active listening; articulate; able to communicate at all levels; able to communicate in various modes

  • Clearly articulates and follows through on goals/objectives

  • Effective time management skills

  • Ability to apply rigorous problem solving processes.

  • Collaborative. Works with peers and teams to achieve results.

  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

The salary range for this position is 78,000.00 - 87,000.00 USD Annual. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
