Job Description
OEM, a leading manufacturer of automobiles and automotive products, is searching for a highly skilled and motivated candidate in electric powertrain testing operations to support development of current and future battery electric and hybrid electric vehicles in its Inverter EPIC Power Electronics Laboratory in Allen Park, MI.

Position: Inverter Testing Technologist

What you'll do...
  • Inspect components of inverters such as: capacitors, IGBTs, busbars
  • Assemble test sample inverters
  • Instrument inverters for test with thermocouples, accelerometers, voltage and current probes, microphones and other equipment.
  • Prepare test setups in lab environment including high voltage testers, thermal chambers, power cyclers, ovens, dynos, chillers, coolant conditioning units, and data acquisition systems.
  • Conduct testing based on test procedures and assist in the troubleshooting of test setups.
  • Support test lab operations including shipping/receiving/inventory of test samples and test setup parts, facility maintenance, and test equipment calibration.
  • Fabricate High Voltage and Low Voltage wiring harnesses and test fixtures to support eDrive testing for power electronics and electrical machines.
  • Assemble various test fixtures and complete fabrication for custom parts

Experience Required:
  • 1 years of experience of mechanical assembly and electrical wiring.
  • Experience working in test labs for power electronics or electrical machines.
  • Experience of machining, GD&T, welding, soldering, complex wiring harness fabrication, knowledge of CAN, EtherCAT and Ethernet communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of higher voltage systems in industrial or electric automotive applications (208VAC-480VAC & 50VDC-1000VDC)
  • Knowledge of ECPL (Energy Control / Power Lock-out) and other high voltage safety training.
  • Ability to complete more advanced machining based on CAD models.
  • Knowledge of running manual or automated tests in lab environment.
  • 3D Printing experience is a plus!
Education Required:
  • Associates Degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or related field.
