The Airframe - Technical Representative I serves as primary technical advisor for assigned aircraft make(s) in supporting internal and external customers with technical services, troubleshooting, systems training and customer service issues. In addition, this position supports the sales and engineering teams with technical data needed in preparing quotes and researching and resolving airframe and related systems integration issues; works with the Professional Development team to develop and deliver technical training; and leads and/or participates with special projects as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides technical advice and troubleshooting assistance to team members, customers and manufacturers for assigned aircraft makes. Assists with aircraft repairs and modifications. Coordinates with manufacturers, management and shop team members to recommend and resolve customers' technical and warranty issues. Acts as Qualified Inspector (QI) or RII as needed.
  1. Provides aircraft and aircraft systems OJT to technicians and familiarization training to customers. Assists the Professional Development team with developing and conducting technical training for internal and external customers. Develops and administers written and practical testing for Run Taxi qualifications.
  1. Recommends and initiates measures to improve quality, procedures, efficiency and working conditions. Identifies, researches and recommends aircraft tooling and equipment needs.
  1. Develops and fosters relationships with OEM technical representatives. Assists management with monitoring and maintaining compliance with airframe service center requirements. Promotes Duncan Aviation services through industry interaction including attending conventions and tradeshows, customer visits, intelli-conferences, preparing newsletter, tele-fax articles, etc.
  1. Supports sales team with quotes and sales proposals by providing technical guidance for airframe systems capabilities and integration issues. Promotes airframe services to customers by identifying and recommending products and services.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: Airframe & Powerplant Certificate required; Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; QI designation; RII designation;
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; occasional overnight and short notice travel required; after hours availability
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and in noisy environments

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Eight years related engine/airframe maintenance experience required
