Job Description

Job Purpose

This position provides 24-hour production support. Supports model year changes by procuring & implementing new equipment onto the production floor. Implement process changes to improve cost, safety, quality, and speed and data integrity. Responsible for the troubleshooting of computerized equipment, PCs, and programmable controls and is accountable for day-to-day operations success.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that new equipment meets safety regulations and the company's standards.
  • Manage new equipment timelines and project cash flow to ensure accurate financial forecasting.
  • Implement process improvements that reduce the facilities operating cost.
  • Implement engineering changes on time and within budget.
  • Participate and complete APQP activities.
  • Interact successfully with Dana's launch teams.
  • Interact successfully with customer engineering and SQE representatives.
  • Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
  • Support EOL and Diamond Board activities.
  • Manage Problem solving board.
  • Understand and follow all required DOS/TPS standards.
  • Any task deemed necessary by Upper Management.
  • Develop and implement safe, efficient, cost-effective, and robust automated systems that increase productivity, improve accuracy, maintain repeatability, reduce repetition, and achieve quality requirements.
  • Determine engineering solutions to mechanical, electrical, robotic, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems. And recommend or make decisions based on information.
  • Generate concise operator instructions for existing and new automated systems.
  • High involvement in KAIZEN activities.
  • Provide financial justification for new projects and improvements on existing automated systems.
  • Once approved, insure completion of a project within allotted budget & timeline.
  • Provide guidance in maintaining all production equipment including, but not limited to, balance cells, robotic systems, weld cells and safety devices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of process engineering on the plant floor.
  • Experience in automation engineering, design, and manufacturing is highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Covisint and customer specific packages
  • Compliant Pro
  • PLM Database
  • Knowledge of quality tools/techniques (APQP, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, TS-16949, 3 path 5 why, 8D etc.)
  • High proficiency in understanding math data, interpretation and part measurement.
  • Working knowledge of GD & T, tolerance stack analysis, gage design and check fixture follow-up activities including Gage R& R's
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Must have Lean manufacturing knowledge and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to improve manufacturing processes while keeping and updating quality/process documentation (PFMEAs, Process Flows, Work Instructions, etc.).
  • The position requires a minimum of 80% floor time, however, will have 100% accountability for day-to-day production/operations success.
  • Mechanical & electrical aptitude is highly desired.
  • Lean Manufacturing Cell Design / Kaizen a plus
  • Must be flexible, willing, and able to work excess hours
