Essential Functions

  • Develops, implements, and manages integrated Safety programs in order to improve the safety and experience of Corewell Health Delivery System patients and employees.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains safety and experience policies, procedures and processes that support the provision of safe, effective, and high value services.

  • Drives and demonstrates a culture that seeks to know, include, and empower patients, families, colleagues, and the community.

  • Using data and experience, acts as an influential consultant and leader to executives, directors, managers, physicians, and departments regarding safety and experience strategies and issues.

  • Works collaboratively with Staff Development to develop, implement and review safety education and training requirements / programs to meet the needs of staff. Acts as an educational resource providing education and/or resource material needed for training and education as needed/requested.

  • Develops, leads, and directs process improvement activities to monitor and improve clinical care, employee safety, and patient experience. Follows up to ensure compliance.

  • Participates in the identification, root cause analysis, problem solving, implementation and evaluation of the reporting of safety events in collaboration with key organizational stakeholders (eg, Senior Operations Team for Quality, Senior Operations Team for Safety, Risk and Compliance and the managers of (safety and accreditation and environmental).

  • Participates in the development and as appropriate approval of budget items supportive of safety and experience initiatives. Reviews budget performance. Provides input into major capital expenses related to safety and experience.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health care management or related field

  • 5 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities within Safety, Reliability, and/or Consumer/Patient Experience

  • 5 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities within Leadership roles and mentoring for peer leaders throughout the organization

PREFERRED

  • Master's Degree MPH or MBA with clinical or healthcare related experience
