Job Summary
Fishbeck is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for architectural/engineering projects, and a proven track record in business development within the A/E or related industry. This role will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing, and maintaining client relationships, and contributing to the firm's overall growth and success.
Additionally, this position offers a unique opportunity to grow into a leadership role within the firm. We are seeking a professional with the talent and proven track record for organizing and leading a team of Business Development professionals. Responsibilities would include implementing a structure for the team that clearly defines roles, establishes goals for each team member, measures successes, and instills accountability. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential to help foster better collaboration between our Business Development team and our technical department leaders as we collectively work toward realizing Fishbeck's 10-year Vision.
Primary Functions
Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and strategic outreach efforts in alignment to existing core markets.
  • Work with the firm's marketing directors and market specific leaders to track and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and client feedback to inform business development strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote our services, build brand awareness, and identify new business leads.
  • Collaborate with the firm's marketing directors, Department Directors, Team Leaders, Project Managers, and corporate marketing team to develop targeted marketing strategies and materials to support lead generation efforts.
  • Support marketing activities including social media, web content development and white papers.
  • Support proposal efforts as needed.
Sales
  • Use CRM system to monitor sales pipelines, forecast, and support goal setting.
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and potential threats to adjust the sales approach accordingly.
  • Develop pricing strategies, promotions, and sales campaigns to boost revenue generation.
  • Oversee or coordinate with department leaders to ensure execution of sales and business development initiatives.
Leadership
  • Conduct data analysis to identify areas for improvement, optimize processes, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Prepare and present routine reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities to senior leadership.
  • Provide leadership via goal setting, targets, and KPIs to the sales and business development staff. Uphold high ethical standards in all business dealing and interactions with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Mobility to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment, visual acuity to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Desired Education/Licensure
Bachelor's or master's degree in related field.
Desired Skills/Experience
  • Minimum 10+ years relevant or translatable business development experience focused in higher education, healthcare, R&D, workplace, and community markets, and/or having active business development experience or contacts within a major metropolitan area that Fishbeck has an office location in.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding business development targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with CRM systems and business development tools.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet clients and attend industry events.
