Job Description

The Pool Supervisor will assist with the implementation of programs, special events, swim lessons, and supervision of staff for all aquatic-related activities, as well as providing training to advance the skills of Kroc Center employees.

Responsibilities:

Assist with daily operations of the aquatic center

-Provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of the aquatics programs, services, facilities and special events.

-Analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.

-Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.

-Provide first aid, CPR, and other emergency care when needed.

-Assist the Aquatics Manager with administrative duties including preparing and reviewing written information relating to lessons, class registrations, incidents/accidents, volunteer needs, and events.

-Maintain and review records and reports as assigned.

-Establish and maintain an equipment checkout program to include checks before and after use for defects and repair or discard defective equipment in accordance with procedures.

-See that all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities is maintained and properly inventoried on a regular basis.

-Develop systems that safeguard any and all facilities, supplies, and equipment related to the aquatic program and facilities of the RJKCCC.

-Perform water chemical tests as determined by the Operating Procedures.

-Establish and maintain guidelines related to the aquatic facilities with regard to the use of food and beverages.

-Must wear standard apparel as prescribed by the Aquatics Manager, and exhibit a professional appearance at all times while on duty.

Shift Supervision

-Maintain training and certification records for all Kroc Center aquatic staff. Maintain a re-certification calendar for annual updates.

-Supervise aquatic support staff including pool attendants, instructors and lifeguards.

-Update and maintain aquatic staff records and facility bulletin boards, which reflect appropriate current information.

-Inspect and supervise staff cleaning and maintenance of swimming pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, trash cans, cleaning equipment, aquatic equipment storage areas, and other areas as assigned, as well as performing cleaning as needed.

Assist in the development and implementation safety policies and procedures for the aquatic center.

-Considerately and patiently enforce RJKCCC rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees. ---Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions. Maintain order in swimming areas.

-Assist the Aquatics Manager to establish a written Rapid Response Action Plan for all types of emergencies in the aquatics area.

-Conduct regular drills for aquatics staff.

Assist with the development and implementation of swim lessons, special events and in-service trainings.

-Assist in the development, training, and teaching of American Red Cross swim lessons.

-Assist in training and instruction of Kroc Center staff in all levels of safety certifications.

-Develop and implement a Lifeguard Instructor program and assist in training and instruction of recommended Kroc Center aquatic staff for Instructor-level Certifications. This training will lend to, but not be limited to, their ability to train and teach other Kroc Center staff.

-Perform lifeguarding and assist swim instructors in teaching swimming lessons and other aquatic instructional programs as assigned.

-Attend all in-service trainings required.

Qualifications:

-Must be at least 18 years of age.

-3 + years' experience in an aquatic setting.

-1+ year's management experience in an aquatic setting preferred.

-Professional certifications required include: American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Oxygen.

-Professional certifications preferred include: American Red Cross Waterpark Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator certification or equivalent. Must be able to obtain ARC Waterpark Lifeguard, LGI and WSI certifications within 90 days of hire.

-Have a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

-Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.

-Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or obtain within 45 days.

-Be able to lift and carry 40lbs.

-Must be able to be mobile for long periods of time.
