Overview

The Industrial Engineer will recommend method revisions to operations, material handling, layouts, equipment utilization, etc. for the purposes of safety, increasing production or improving standards.

Responsibilities

    Establishes work methods.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) project work.
  • Job instruction setup and job analysis.
  • Layout of plant operations using CAD software.
  • Lays out and balances assembly lines. Proficient at 6S and Workplace Organization (WPO) techniques.
  • Assists with Quick Setup methods & policies.
  • Performs justification reports on equipment & methods.
  • Performs part cost reduction analysis.
  • Assists with problem solving.
  • Analyzes production flow
  • Performs time studies for assigned tasks.
  • Procures items & equipment for cells & assembly lines.

Qualifications

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent. Two to three years' experience in sheet metal fabrication and assembly is desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in legible handwriting or on computer. Ability to effectively communicate with other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistics.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Ability to read blueprints.

Knowledge of computers. (Knowledge of Excel, SIM Software, Gantt Charts and Word would be helpful). CAD Proficiency required.

Knowledge of Kanban, JIT, Focus Factory & Cellular manufacturing concepts

Ability to use stopwatch.

Ability to use calculator.

Familiarity with shop floor systems.

Ability to work well with people on all levels.

Good analytical & reasoning skills.

Ability to work with minimum supervision.
