Job Summary:

Program, repair and/or conduct PM's on all types of equipment and drives focusing on the controls systems of our operating equipment. Participate in the decision-making process regarding the specification, testing, installation and validation of these controls systems. Perform upgrades on equipment and support the maintenance staff on troubleshooting issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Trouble-shoot and repair equipment drives and control systems of all types.
  • Install and evaluate new control technologies as required.
  • Conduct/perform periodic PM work on all drives and controls systems.
  • Document all work performed on plant equipment.
  • Recommend improvements to plant equipment and/or the manufacturing process as required.
  • Train and guide the work of plant maintenance technicians regarding the control's aspects of our operation.
  • Safeguard all corporate or plant confidential information.
  • Create and maintain interest in the plant safety program and look for areas of improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs; such as, validations.
  • Write, perform and complete Change controls as required per policy.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of PLC/Industrial control wiring experience.
  • Hands on work experience including experience with software and PLC systems (particularly Allen Bradley and Siemens control systems).
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and controls diagrams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to train and guide the work of lower skilled mechanics.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • AAS degree preferred in automation, electronics, electrical and/or related work in PLCs (i.e. an engineering discipline).
  • PLC - Automation Certifications.

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal travel (possible international).

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Must follow and comply with Plant's Dress and Hygiene Code (SOI).
  • Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required to stand, talk and hear for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to work in areas that have a rubber smell and some noise levels. Note: hearing protection is required in some areas.
  • Must be able to identify wiring colors and able to view wiring diagrams.
