We're hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to join our pioneering and dedicated team! Joining the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will follow established techniques to design, develop and improve the products, processes and components that make us world leaders, and be supported and encouraged to expand your skills and knowledge every step of the way.

At the Agilent Ankeny, IA site we manufacture chemical reagents for electrophoresis instrumentation used for nucleic acid and protein analysis.

Our manufacturing team is responsible for:

  • Manufacturing of liquid reagents for gel electrophoresis systems: TapeStation, Fragment Analyzer, and Femto Pulse systems. Automate, improve and scale production of these reagents.

  • The team of manufacturing engineers owns the technical responsibility for all manufacturing processes along the value chain.

Your major responsibilities:

  • Technical oversight and support of multiple reagent products in manufacturing.

  • You are responsible for leading all aspects of the quality and efficiency of manufacturing. Report on key metrics, troubleshoot problems, work with production operators, other engineers and site management to support product line.

  • Actively work for improvements in manufacturing processes through innovated ideas and cross-team collaboration.

  • Document changes and maintain compliance of product line in Agilent systems according to ISO9001 and ISO13485.

  • Collect and analyze process and quality data to identify areas of quality or efficiency improvement.

  • Work with, maintain and update software systems to monitor and direct automation. Identify or design sensors to confirm quality and deliver data for analysis.

  • Work with, maintain and update manufacturing execution and electronic batch record systems.

  • You collaborate closely with internal and external partners to develop and establish specifications for new manufacturing processes and technologies.

  • With your open and clear communication, you are actively involved in the selection process of suitable machine suppliers for further automation.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide manufacturing input for New Product Introduction and support implementation of new products, including creating work instructions, training operators, setting up new processes and labs, and installing correct equipment and quality procedures.

  • Other duties as needed for site success.

  • You flourish in multi-functional projects in inter-disciplinary teams, enjoy cross-cultural collaborations and are eager to assume responsibility in a highly dynamic environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, Mechanical, Automation, Electrical, Industrial, Software Engineering, or scientific degree equivalent

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Understanding of SAP ERP, object-oriented programming in Java, Web-Development, HTML, Java Script and SQL-Queries

  • Experience in automation projects, programming PLCs, in manufacturing execution systems (MES) or EBRs, and corresponding data analytics like SAP Web-Intelligence or Spotfire

  • Experience in a production environment
