At Haleon, Automation Engineers manage and execute projects related to industrial machine automation for both new and existing equipment. They support the site's strategy by ensuring that production equipment is available when needed and can deliver products according to customer demand. In this role, Automation Engineers lead complex projects with teams consisting of internal and external stakeholders, aiming to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities of this role may include:

  • Leading the design and installation of instrumentation and control systems in some of the following areas: building automation systems, data systems, process control, DCS and utility PLCs which are harmonized with Haleon-standards.

  • Developing and optimizing operation and maintenance procedures for instrumentation and control systems.

  • Managing change control process for automation/Process Control Equipment.

  • Providing technical support for existing instrumentation and automation systems. Analyzing repairs and maintenance requirements to proactively address system weaknesses.

  • In cooperation with the Validation Engineers, developing validation documentation and implementing validation plans, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Managing vendors and consultants to ensure that contracts containing proper technical specifications are delivered as required.

  • Staying current on developments in the field of instrumentation and control technology and Haleon-Standards.

  • Interfacing with users, peers, and management to ensure proper input and integration of local and corporate standards.

  • Supporting on time compliance records of Automation Department.

  • Providing technical support for utility systems including but not limited to purified water systems, compressed air systems, chilled water systems and steam systems.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with a preference for specializations in control systems, computerized systems, networking, or mechatronics.

  • 1+ years' industrial controls related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • 3+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience with FactoryTalk or Ignition HMI Systems

  • Networking or Cybersecurity certifications
