Position Summary

We have an on-going need for part-time instructors in several disciplines. Instructors must be available to teach on campus since opportunities do not exist to teach online courses only. The following is a list of positions we anticipate filling for future semesters:

  • Accounting- (a) Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a Master's degree in Business or a Business related field from an accredited institution with 18 hours in Accounting courses beyond the principles of Accounting sequence, (b) A Master's degree in Business or a Business related field from an accredited institution with 18 graduate hours in accounting and finance; or (c) a Master's degree in Business or a Business related field from an accredited instiution with certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Two (2) years of practical experience needed in the accounting field.
  • Anthropology/Cultural Anthropology - Master's degree in Anthropology.
  • Arabic - Master's degree in Arabic, or native speaker with a bachelor's degree. Two years of practical experience in teaching.
  • Art Appreciation - Master's degree in Art History; or an MA or MFA in studio art or art education with significant (minimum 18 credits) coursework in art history and experience teaching art history and/or art appreciation classes. Faculty may be needed for assignments at the Northern Tier Center for Winter 2010.
  • Baking and Pastry Chef - Associate's degree in Culinary Arts. Two years of related work experience in the supervision and management of food service facilities and baking.
  • Biology - (A & P and General) Master's degree or higher in Biology or related sub-discipline from an accredited institution or an equivalent advanced degree which may include a medical degree that may be represented through documented, accredited course equivalents.
  • Business Health Services Management - Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, or in a field related to Medical Practice Management, Business Health Services Management, Allied Health, Nursing, Medical Technology, or Health Care Administration/Hosital Finance. Two years of practical experience needed in coding and billing of medical records in a hospital, physician's office, or with a third party payer and a working knowledge of the software required in these processes.
  • Counselor - Master's Degree in Counseling or directly related degree; must be licensed as a Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC) or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan at the time of hire. Position may involve instruction and/or comprehensive college-counseling duties.
  • Dental Hygiene Program - Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene or related area from an accredited institution. Must have transcript of coursework documenting solid progress toward attaining Master's degree in Dental Hygiene or related field from an accredited institution. Current MI licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) or Doctor of Dentistry (DDS). At least three (3) years of full time recent, relevant dental hygiene clinic experience.
  • English - Master's degree in English, Literature, Composition, Rhetoric, American Studies, Creative Writing or a related degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English from an accredited institution. Teaching experience in English.
  • Economics - Master's degree in Economics.
  • French - Master's degree in French.
  • Forensic Science-Occupational Safety - Master's degree in Environmental Health Sciences or related occupational safety field from a regionally accredited insitution. Two (2) years of practical experience needed in teaching and/or applying occupational safety protocols in a professional and/or medical setting. Current OSHA Certifications in Bloodborne Pathogens, Handwashing training, Chemical Safety, Hazard Recognition, Confined Spaces and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Forensic Science-Forensic Pathology - Master's degree in Anthropology and/or Biology or MD or DO with specialty training in anatomic pathology from a regionally accredited instiution. Two (2) years of practical experience in a morgue setting with autopsy procedures. Clear evidence of graduate level coursework in Anatomy and Physiology, Forensic Pathology, and/or Forensic Anthropology.
  • Geography - Master's degree in Geography.
  • Graphic Design - Bachelor's degree with progress (minimum 6 credits) toward a Master's degree in Graphic Design, Advertising Design, Communication Design, Visual Communications, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution. Two (2) years of full time practical experience (or equivalent) needed in a Graphic Design-related field. Faculty may be needed for Graphic Design Survey and Publication Design for Web for Winter 2010.
  • History - Master's degree in History from an accredited institution.
  • Japanese - Master's degree in Japanese, or native speaker with a bachelor's degree. Two years of practical experience in teaching.
  • Jazz & Music Appreciation - Master's degree in Music, Music Education, Master of Arts in Music, or Master of Fine Arts in Music from an accredited institution. Faculty may be needed for Music Appreciation at the Livingston campus and for Jazz Appreciation on Saturdays at Southern Lakes Branch Center for Winter 2010.
  • Mathematics - Master's degree, MS, MA or MAT, or higher in Mathematics or a related degree, from an accredited institution. If the Master's or higher degree is in a related degree, the applicant must have at least 18 successful semester hours of mathematics at the college level beyond Calculus II, that support the candidate's ability to teach MCC's mathematics courses.
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant Program/Fieldwork Coordinator- Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education -accredited program for occupational therapy or occupational therapy assistants. Associate's degree in Occ. Therapy Assistant with a Bachelor's degree in a health care related field or BA in Occ. Therapy. Educational credientials must be from accredited institutions. At least three years of recent, relevant, full-time clinical experience. If candidate is an Occ. Therapist, then has one to two years of experience working with Certified Occ. Therapy Assistants. Currently credentialed as an Occ. Therapist or Certified Occ. Therapy Assistant. Current Michigan registration in Occ. Therapy as OTR or eligible for Michigan licensure prior to hire.
  • Philosophy - Master's degree in Philosophy.
  • Psychology - Master's degree in Psychology.
  • Reading - Master's degree in Reading, Reading Education, or a related degree (such as Adult Literacy, English, Adult Education, Developmental Education, Linguistics with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in reading) from an accredited institution. Teaching experience in Reading.
  • Sociology - Master's degree in Sociology.
  • Spanish - Master's degree in Spanish. Recent teaching experience in Spanish at the post-secondary level.
  • Speech Communications - Master's degree or higher in Speech Communication, Communication Studies, Rhetoric, Interpersonal Communication or a related degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in rhetoric, argumentation, interpersonal, intercultural, small group, or organizational communication. Teaching experience in Speech Communication.
  • Studio Art - Master's degree in Art or an MFA in a studio art field of specialization, as well as significant record as a practitioner in the field of specialization as evidenced by a portfolio of creative work and a strong exhibition record. Faculty may be needed for Drawing, Drawing II and Basic 2-D Design for Winter 2010.
  • Theatre - Master's degree or MFA in Theatre, Dramatic Arts, Acting, or a similar field and demonstrated experience in acting, directing, producing, and/or technical theatre work. Faculty may be needed for Introduction of Theatre at the Lapeer campus for Winter 2010.
